Fairview math teacher Elaine Hutchison has been named Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. 

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Janet Barresi made the announcement Tuesday at the Oklahoma State Fair.  “I am absolutely thrilled to give this title to Ms. Hutchison,” Barresi said. “I have to believe her enthusiasm for preparing students for jobs and the real world outside of high school, and her passion for her subject matter were deciding factors for the judges." 

Hutchison will receive more than $50,000 in cash and prizes and serves as the state's Ambassador of Teaching for one year.

She will also represent Oklahoma in the national Teacher of the Year competition. 

Hutchison is a National Board Certified Teacher with 19 years of classroom experience.

She has been in her current position 10 years.

She earned her Bachelors of Science in secondary education from Oklahoma State University.
